Yesterday Amazon introduced Prime Photos, a new benefit for Prime members. This service provides unlimited and free photo storage in the Amazon Cloud drive. Your photos can be uploaded via the Cloud drive website, the iOS / Android application or Fire tablets and phones.
Perfect for backups
This service went online yesterday, Prime members can already use it for free following this link. Because Prime photo is a common cloud service, you’ll basically have access to your pictures from everywhere including Amazon Fire TV, the newly announced Fire TV stick, as well as LG and Samsung Smart TVs.
Besides full resolution JPEGs, you are also allowed to upload the original RAW files, which is kind of nice to save some hard drive space. You can also upload unsupported file types, but those won’t be included in the unlimited photo storage, which means you actually have to use up some of the 5 gigabyte free storage, which comes with the Amazon Prime membership.
Videos can also be uploaded to the cloud storage, but those have to be smaller than 2 gigabyte and less than 20 minutes long. Amazons new service is only available for non-commercial, personal use.
